Benji Hartfield Studio was established in 2019, having negotiated with St Hilda’s Anglican Church to let the artist convert what was the former ‘Men’s Clubroom’ also referred to as The Dog Box into an art studio. Designed by prominent New Zealand architect James Walter Chapman-Taylor and built in 1907[1], this space has been revitalised by Benji as his studio with a garden surrounding. The studio is an ever-evolving exhibition and a living artwork.
